Limited Edition Serigraph
Restaurant front on the Rue St Antoine in Paris. Issue 91 of an edition of 250. Signed and numbered in pencil. Framed in wood faux finished to resemble weathered bronze with off-white mat and gold fillet.
Measures 42.5" x 31"
Very good pre-owned condition. No apparent damage to artwork or frame.
Fusing realistic technique with romantic subject matter, Pradzynski brought the longing for past remembrances and the immediacy of living in the moment intimately together. He said that his paintings are an attempt to romanticize the empty streets and traces of the past and to preserve places that are slowly disappearing.
Born in Lodz, Poland in 1951, Pradzynski studied fine arts at Lycee Francaise in Warsaw, but ultimately received a master's degree in sociology and economics. In 1977 he and his wife Joanna moved to Paris where he became known for painting realistic street scenes. He was murdered in 2007 in a road rage incident while walking his wife in Paris.
