For those of you with a fondness for caviar, these French crystal caviar serving dishes are absolutely de rigueur! They were created by Cristallerie de Portieux of France, a company that was founded in 1690. The main part of each dish is intended to hold the ice, the smaller crystal bowls holding the caviar. The dolphin that serves as the stem of each dish is frosted, the perfect complement to the clear crystal bowl above. The stainless steel holders keep the cups at the correct height above the ice. There are no condition issues that I need to point out other than one metal holder that seems to be smaller than the second one, making it hard to push all the way down on the bowl (refer to picture 14). I didn't want to break it or scratch the crystal, so I left it slightly elevated, as you can see in this picture. Both dishes bear the manufacturer's mark on the bottom (refer to picture 17). It was very hard to photograph, but it's marked Portieux above their logo and France beneath it. I photographed these two caviar dishes outside on a sunny day. I wasn't able to capture the radiance of this exceptionally fine crystal in these pictures, but the brilliance was remarkable with an abundance of rainbow colors emanating from it.
