A superb late-Victorian salt-glazed stoneware ginger beer bottle from the famed George Skey pottery in Tamworth, Staffordshire — one of the most respected makers of utilitarian stoneware in 19th-century England.

George Skey (or his firm), who ran one of the largest stoneware potteries in the Midlands. They specialized in utilitarian items like ginger beer bottles, ink pots, and storage jars, supplying bottlers across the UK and exporting to Europe/Australia. Wilnecote (a village just outside Tamworth) was their base. See less
