We purchased this rarity in France. It features a large rendering of a period decorative settee. It is the work of Auguste Pequegnot (1819-1878) who was an accomplished painter and engraver. This image came from a portfolio published in 1878. Pequegnot did a series of these elaborately carved wooden furnishings in the style of the XVI, XVII, and XVII centuries. Documentation on the bottom refers to the given "name" of the piece. This print is a large horizontal rendering measuring 19.5 x 13 inches. The upholstery is as rich in elaborate detailing as the woodwork of the frame. The print has a beautiful antique patina. It was a folded image and the center fold is faintly visible. The original also shows print marks. The litho is in remarkablely clean antique condition consistent with age and history. Minor age toning is evident on the outside edges (see photo) and this is easily eliminated with matting and framing. This is a RARE piece! See less
