Chinese porcelain deer and cranes tianqiuping, a finely formed, squat, globe shaped vase with a short neck and a white glazed exterior, interior and inset base. The vase is decorated seven, red-crowned cranes around the neck flange and fifteen, spotted deer around the body. There is an inscription on the lower part of the vase in black xingshu script with two, red, seal marks. The signature of the artist, Wang Chengzhi, in six characters in red, xingshu script are glazed to the inset base. Circa late 20th century.

A group of deer can represent good luck and power. The deer is often depicted with the god of longevity, Shou Lao, and is said to be the only creature capable of finding the mushroom of immortality, the lingzhi.
