Description
A rare and exceptional Art Nouveau porcelain vase featuring deeply modeled pâte-sur-pâte relief figures rendered in matte white slip against a swirling marbled ground of grey, plum, and cream. The composition depicts allegorical classical figures—standing, seated, or in gentle interaction—arranged in a continuous narrative around the vessel. The marbled porcelain body, executed through agateware-like blending, creates a flowing backdrop typical of Jugendstil organic aesthetics.
The sculpted figures, finely layered by hand, display the nuanced translucency and precision characteristic of Dresden’s turn-of-the-century studio art ceramics. The vase is signed by the artist “Bronisław,” dated 1906, and marked “Dresden,” indicating production within an independent Dresden atelier during the height of the city’s artistic renaissance.
This work is a significant surviving example of early 20th-century Central European ceramic art, combining technical mastery with classical symbolism
