It is the famous Wedgwood blue, Jasperware bisque finish developed by Josiah Wedgwood in the 1770s that has continued to be used today. The applique relief in the middle is of Josiah Wedgwood himself.

We're not sure of the age of this piece, but remember it being in our grandmother's curio cabinet since at least the 1980's.
