The vertical edges are slightly indented and the horizontal edges are accented with a slightly stepped band, the one at the lip about half the size of the one at the foot. The four sides are decorated with finely drawn and detailed, bird and flower scenes with inscriptions in black, caoshu script and red seal marks A red, Yucen artist mark in Zhuanshu script within a square is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, stand is included. Circa Republic of China period or later.

Yucen: Product of Jingdezhen painter, Liu Yucen (1904 - 1969), one of the "Eight Friends of Zhushan", a former, imperial kiln site and a nickname for Jingdezhen proper. These eight painters began organizing in 1927 and met once a month as the "Full Moon Group" later adding two more members.
