A gorgeous four-panel tabletop screen, made of black-lacquered wood. Mother-of-pearl compositions on each panel, with birds on blooming flower branches as a repeating motif
Gold meander borders. On the other side are four stylized foliate panels, hand painted with gold and four-character inscriptions on each - bamboo, chrysanthemum, miscanthus silvergrass and a blooming tree branch. Brass hinges. All fold together as pictured.
Chinese in origin, first half/mid 20th century
Measurements: Approx. 18" x 14" overall, when folded out. Each panel is about 14" x 4.5"
Weighs about 3 lbs. 5 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos below. All original. Exquisite display. Missing some petals on the flower of panel number three (left to right). Minor speck of missing lacquer on the back of the second panel (left to right).
