This Victorian drop center dresser dates from approximately 1865-1880, during the height of the Victorian era in American furniture design. Crafted from walnut with ornate architectural elements including a pediment top with finial, scrollwork details and decorative pulls, it exemplifies the elaborate craftsmanship of the period.
The drawers in this piece are constructed with pin-and-scallop (Knapp) dovetail. The piece also has a hidden drawer at the very bottom that has no pulls and appears to be part of the frame. Both are detailed in the pictures.
