Circa 1870s English Gothic Revival writing slope desk box. A letter box is flanked by the original brass collared & hinged inkwells in brass surrounds (the hinges now a bit loose from over 150 years of use), above the writing slope. Fold-over slope, with original impressed velvet, reveals leathered storage area with sorting slots. Walnut with extravagant brass Gothic style mounts. To open unlock the letter box and lift the lid to release the slope. Many minor old repairs, losses & a couple of old cracks on each side.
