Currier & Ives produced a series of prints that encouraged pious living and moderation. In this work, which celebrates the positive effects of temperance, a wealthy family is shown together in their comfortable home. This image, a companion to The Fruits of Intemperance, was also published under the name The Good Husband." (Springfield Museums) Entered According to Act of Congress in the Year 1870 by currier & Ives in the Clerks Office of the District Court of the united States for the Southern district of New York.
