This vintage pup was created by Sadler China in Burslem, England. Also called Wally Dogs, these Staffordshire Spaniels were styled after the earlier Victorian Era mantlepiece decorations popular in the mid 1800s.
The backstamp on this piece SADLER BURSLEM ENGLAND does not have an accompanying "Made in England" mark, so may not have been made for export. This stamp was used in the early 20th Century.
