Royal Worcester, independence 1776. This plate is a reproduction of the independence pattern produced at the time that the eagle was first used as the national emblem of the United States., issued in a limited edition to commemorate the bicentennial of the United States 1976.

During the early part of its history Royal Worcester produce the dramatic independent 1776 pattern at the time the eagle was first being used as the national emblem of the United States since the introduction of the pattern coincided with many visits for Benjamin Franklin London, it is believed that this pattern was especially commissioned by him. To commemorate the bicentennial of the United States in 1976 it was fittingly chosen to issue in a limited edition and exact reproduction of the original pattern. The craftsman have taken pains taken care to reproduce faithfully the exquisite design and coloring of the priceless original now in the collection of the Dyson parents museum in England and already admired by many thousands of American visitors.
