Beautiful Italian Antique Puzzle Box
Made in Sorrento Italy
This is a wonderful high-quality antique jewellery box. It was made in Sorrento, in Southern Italy, and it dates to the late 19th century. The interior is lined with apricot wool velvet Original p. No key. The Exterior is made of solid Olive-wood, with a lovely patina. The box is in the form of books. There are two books horizontally placed at the top and bottom, and a row of upright volumes in between. These are all numbered with hand-painted Roman Numerals (I to XI).
The lid has beautiful carved inlaid rowboats. The front of the lid has the Italian word 'Souvenor" The box is complete with its original hinges.
