The print depicted, titled “Fujisawa,” is the seventh station from Hiroshige’s celebrated woodblock series The Fifty-Three Stations of the Tōkaidō (Tōkaidō Gojūsan-tsugi). The artwork portrays travelers along the historic road connecting Edo (modern Tokyo) and Kyoto, rendered in Hiroshige’s signature poetic and atmospheric style.

The exhibition, titled Cherished Vistas and Famous Places: Hiroshige and the Japanese Landscape, ran from January 18 to September 29, 1996, at the Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena, California. The show featured 75 of Hiroshige’s woodblock prints, highlighting his influence on Western artists including Vincent van Gogh and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.
