An outstanding antique Hookah vase, made of very thick and heavy cast, lathe turned and hand chased brass
The Hookah (also known as Shisha, Narghile, Qalyan and Huqqa in different regions) is a traditional water pipe in the Islamic world, used for smoking tobacco mixed with dried fruits
Raised baluster form, fluted design all around body
Hand chased and tooled ornamentation consisting of stylized fish motifs and geometric patterns
The pipe bowl and hose apparatus would screw into the top of the bottle, which also acts as a weighted base to the pipe
All original and well-preserved
Antique, Mughal Empire India, 18th century. Possibly Agra Subah
Measurements: Approx. 10" tall, 5.5" base diameter (across). Weighs about 3 lbs. 10 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. All original, noble patina developed over time. Superb display!
