The pottery is fired using rice hulls and straw giving the pots their black markings. Once widely produced by women throughout the island of Lombok in Indonesia, pottery is now the main industry of three Sasak villages. The pottery industry has boomed since the 1990s with the help of government economic development initiatives. See less
