The "balloon back" chairs were mainly made in the Victorian era, made by master cabinetmakers who often customized them with individual decorations, this type of chair was perfectly suited to most styles of the dining table, very solid quality woods such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood were used, while the Australian version was made of cedar or Huon pine. Our pair was made between 1870 and 1875 in England and all the features make it a fine example of chairs "Balloon Back", the symbol par excellence of the Victorian era.
