This classic “cocked hat” form was favored by European military and court officers from the late 1700s through the Napoleonic era.

The hat retains its original crimson silk lining and tan leather sweatband, both in remarkable condition for its age. A silver button featuring a crowned emblem encircled by laurel leaves decorates the cockade—a detail typical of British and Continental officer’s dress uniforms of the period.
