Wonderful antique hand-painted porcelain divided lobster dish made by Carl Tielsch & Co., of Altwasser, Germany in the late 19th century. The glossy white dish has a rippled "lettuce" edge rimmed in shiny gold and divided bowls decorated with an elaborate gold pattern in keeping with the Gilded Age. The two bowls are divided by an arched bright red lobster handle in the middle. The lobster is wonderfully and realistically articulated down to the beady black eyes! The C.T./Blue Eagle maker's mark on the bottom of the dish dates it to 1887-1899. Displays beautifully. Looks great hung on a wall or over a doorway/window!
Measures approximately 14" w x 10 1/2" h x 4 1/2" d (with handle).
Excellent condition consistent with age and some use. Bottom rim has minor soiling and there is very minor gold loss on the outside edges, minor porcelain irregularities and a small chip on the bottom, as shown. Please see photos for details and condition.
