This circa 1850s hand-blown aqua glass strap-shoulder flask is about 9" tall and was produced in the American glass trade during the mid-19th century. It features a tooled collar neck, visible mold seams stopping below the lip, and a gently pushed-up base that identifies it as mold-blown rather than free-blown. Once used for whiskey or medicinal tonics, the flask exemplifies early industrial craftsmanship and retains its natural pale blue color caused by iron impurities in the glass. Today, it stands as a striking display accent for farmhouse, rustic, or traditional interiors. The later photos most accurately represent the items true color.
The irregular bubbles, ripples, and subtle asymmetry highlight the human touch behind mid-century glassmaking—a genuine 19th-century artifact of everyday American life.
