Very Rare Engraving.
Waltham Cross Hertfordshire, England hand colored engraving October 10, 1787. 1 of 12 crosses to commemorate his wife Eleanor of Castille. Seago Print Seller. This cross and several others was erected by the order of King Edward 1 to the memory of his faithful and beloved Consort Queen Eleanor who died in 1291 at Harley in Lincolnshire. Edward needed a dramatic way to express his undying love, and the cross was visited and prayed upon by pilgrims.
