We found this rare framed original print of the famed artist Alfred de Dreaux's drawing by famed engraver Alphonse Martinet at a European estate sale.

Alfred de Dreux (1810-1860)
Pierre-Alfred Dedreux, known as Alfred de Dreux, born and died in Paris, (March 23, 1810 - March 5, 1860) was a French portrait and animal painter who specialized in the representation of the horse. We owe him lithographs. Alfred Dedreux, relatively little known animal painter, specialized in the representation of equines, the emblem of the Hermès brand comes from one of his drawings. He was close to Théodore Géricault, a man with whom he shared his passion for equestrian sport, the latter quickly became his master. Alfred Dedreux was also the official portrait painter of the imperial family, which allowed him to be named in 1857 Knight of the Legion of Honor. He died in 1860 in Paris. Alfred Dedreux is a classical painter. His main works are Monsieur and Madame Mosselman and their two daughters, Napoleon III on horseback, Cavaliers et amazones au bord d'un lac.
