Circa 1800

Finely hand-crafted in England at the turn of the late 18th / early 19th century, this charming angular shaped tea caddy features a patinated brass hinged wooden lid which displays an exquisite centralized conch shell marquetry inlay design, and opens to reveal a fitted interior with two lidded storage compartments, retaining the original lead foil liner.

With beautifully aged patina over the whole, rich antique mahogany coloring, soft, warm hues, superb grain detail. Overall in good condition with expected signs of age and wear, including some areas of age related splitting, separation, and evidence of checking to the finish as well as the interior, all of which is minimal in nature and does not detract from the overall display. With the two interior lids in, the top does not fully close. Displays splendidly.

Showcasing fine quality craftsmanship and detailing throughout, beautiful antique character and rich, historic depth aquired from over two centuries of use, with perfect proportions for use as a desk organizer or pen stand, small decorative storage box, jewelry case or charming table accent.
