An extraordinary hand-thrown studio pottery vessel of Mediterranean origin that combines ceramic artistry with natural semi-precious stones. The form is graceful and sculptural, with a quiet sense of ritual and craftsmanship that makes it as captivating as it is rare.
The rounded vessel is finished in a soft cream glaze that reveals warm terracotta undertones beneath the surface. The hand-painted lid features a bold black and white geometric pattern and a turned finial. From it hang strands of individually knotted semi-precious stones including aventurine, carnelian, agate, chalcedony, and possibly onyx or moss agate. Each stone introduces natural color and texture variation, lending the piece depth and a meditative quality.
The base bears a fluid, hand-painted signature that remains unrecognizable (despite my research). While the maker is currently unknown, the skill, balance, and material composition reflect the work of an accomplished Mediterranean studio potter, likely from the late twentieth century.
