This tall jar features a phoenix among rocks and flowers. This flower and bird theme is common in Chinese painting, but the phoenix is usually reserved for palace items while yellow and pink peonies are an auspicious motif. The piece is topped with a lid, delicately adorned with an animal, perhaps a lion.
