BEAUTIFUL AMERICAN 19TH CENTURY CRAZY QUILT
DATED 1888
DIMENSIONS
About 72" x 72"
DESCRIPTION
Brilliantly colorful crazy quilt. One panel stitched with "1888." Another shows the initials of the maker "CMC." Done in crazy quilt embroidery stitching. Several close-stitched stumpwork images of strawberries, anchor, moon and stars, etc. Most of the fabrics appear to be satin, silk and velvet.
CONDITION
Overall very good. Colors brilliant. Has a slight musty smell. EXAMINE THE PHOTOS CAREFULLY. I took pains to photograph every damaged area I could find, and there appears to be about ten sections that have some wear-through and could use some repair (all visible in the images). A RARE DATED 19TH CENTURY AMERICAN HAND STITCHED CRAZY QUILT.
