The top of the … Read more Napoleon III period cigar humidor, made of marquetry and featuring a characteristically mid-19th century, turbulent shape. The top of the box features chevron marquetry around a central monogrammed plaque. The whole is enhanced with brass and copper inlays depicting delicate flowers. Brass-plated fillets and rods highlight the edges of the box and add a refined accent to the decoration. The interior features five removable trays designed for storing and displaying cigars, and the front lock comes with a functional key that ensures the box is securely closed. The trays are removable for easy organization and access to the contents. The piece is in the Second Empire style and illustrates the expertise of 19th-century marquetry makers through the harmonious combination of contrasting woods and metal ornaments.
