Whimsical and charming, the vintage two piece work ornately sculpted and chiseled high quality solid bronze, nicely patinated, richly detailed, depicting a Japanese heron with a marsh flower lilly in its beak, standing with claws perched atop the ancient mythical Asian creatures tortoise shell, as the beast lifts its dragon face and looks up in annoyance with its mouth ajar, the bird with finely detailed feathers and the tortoise with a wavy flared pointed end tail, remnants of partial gilt accents. Loss to a third piece possibly.

Whimsy and eclectic yet with a traditional feel, a quick and fun way to add decorative elements of texture, depth, form and color to any space.
