"Our" Oberman 601 armchair is a relatively unique design, as we've never seen this version with a wenge wood frame … Read more "Our" Oberman 601 armchair is a relatively unique design, as we've never seen this version with a wenge wood frame before.
The tubular frame and construction of the armchair are identical to the Oberman 601 by Jan Des Bouvrie, but the wenge wood frame with tension springs and webbing is, in turn, part of the Gelderland Lotus armchair by Rob Parry. The oval, black armrests are also special, as the armrests of an Oberman are usually round, and saddle leather is normally used for seating comfort. In our armchair, the tension springs of the backrest and webbing of the seat again serve to provide ideal seating comfort. This shape is crucial for a Parry Lotus armchair. Never mind; Parry designed the Lotus armchair for Meubelindustrie Gelderland in the middle of the last century. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
