Excellent piece of meissen porcelain of the 18th century: four cupids wrapped in cloths grouped on a rock after the corn harvest, one leaning on the corn in the centre with a wreath of ears of corn and a sickle in his hand, others holding bundles, a tired cupid boy even asleep on the bed of sheaves in the foreground. On an elongated meadow base with gold-heightened rocailles. Designer: johann joachim kaendler (1706 - 1775) was chief sculptor at the meissen manufactory from 1742 to 1775. He is the most famous modeller meissen manufactory ever had and created famous series such as shepherd figurines, comedian's children, gardener children (with acier), paris town criers (with reinicke and meyer), gallant figurines, etc. Model 2490 was created in the year 1757.
