In this drawing, Sulander compresses gesture into emblem. Three blue ovoids, edged in black, rise against a field of scribbled graphite that quivers like static energy-an arena of chaos disciplined by structure. The palette's restraint, limited to tonal blues and carbon black, yields a meditative austerity. The work continues Sulander's evolution toward symbolic geometry, translating emotional turbulence into poised architecture. Echoing Robert Motherwell's Elegies, the composition transforms automatism into moral form: motion becomes memory, color becomes thought.
