The … Read more We consider this a unique item of Americana. We had never seen one before. Bet you have not either.
The Graton Toy Company introduced its "Sno-flake" Saucer Sled in 1955. It became a popular sled due to the error's fascination with the Space Age and flying saucers.
It is made of 20-gage steel. The yellow bottom indicates it was made between 1955 and 1961. It sold for $ 4.95 in 1955. This is the "lithograph" painted version, with a colorful winter scene.
A smiling boy with a cap, earmuffs, scarf and jacket glides past a group of people. He is followed by a dog.
He is going between hills and trees; there is a barn at the top.
The lithograph paint is sharp and there is almost no rust, there are dents, dings and scratches showing normal ware.
Our version has some rust but is in good to very good condition and has the original handles (very rare).
Think of this as an excellent Christmas decoration besides your tree, as part of your front door decor or as a gift to anyone into 1950's kitsch Christmas decor.
It is 26 " wide and the saucer is 3" deep. See less
