Victor Emanuel Lindstrand, known as Vicke Lindstrand (born 27 November 1904 in Gothenburg, died 7 May 1983 in Kosta) was a Swedish glass designer, textile and ceramic designer, and painter. He is considered a pioneer of Swedish glass art. He made his debut as a designer at the Stockholm World Fair in 1930, where he presented twelve glass vases with enamel decor in exotic patterns. For this he received great attention from international design publications. Lindstrand joined Orrefors in 1928 and left in 1940. Lindstrand added new artistic dimensions to the already famous Orrefors glass with his unique designs and a rigorous modernist style and he precisely captured the art deco "High Style".
Lindstrand turned his attention in the 1930s to the vogue for uneven thick-walled crystal, to which he applied the same modernist imagery by engraving. By applying an undulating surface to his vases, he generated a heightened illusion of movement within the crystal. This crystal vase is an excellent example of this technique. This vase is 8.75 inches tall and is tapered, the top is 5.75 inches wide and the bottom is 3.75 inches. It is signed Orrefors and Lindstrand with the item number. There are two minor fleabites that are side by side at the top of the vase, please refer to the pictures.
