An Austrian Enameled Sterling Silver Belt Buckle
The buckle has a distinctive, lobed or clover-like shape and is made of white metal, sterling silver. The surface is decorated with a white guilloché enamel background, a technique where a geometric pattern is engraved on the metal underneath a translucent enamel layer. Hand-painted pink roses with green leaves are arranged around the edge of the buckle. The buckle features two parallel bars on the back for fastening a ribbon or sash, a design commonly used for women's clothing accessories of that period.
This overall design is often associated with the Art Nouveau and Belle Époque periods.
