An 18th Century Austrian Gilt Bronze & Carved Agate Box
The box has a rectangular shape with a hinged lid. The primary material is a polished, banded agate stone, showcasing natural layers of black, white, and brown. The metal framework, gilt bronze, forms the box's base, sides, and hinged lid. The sides of the box are also decorated with an engraved, patterned border. This combination of a natural stone body with a metal frame is a common characteristic of snuff boxes and similar objets de vertu from the period.
