This pretty antique cabinet has the clean lines and elegance of the Ming Dynasty traditions.It is made of panel construction. Much attention is paid to details in the double rounded edging of the top with the slightly waisted sides to the beaded edges of the door panels. The edges are rounded through, and the double row of edges on the base offer interest. Its small size is suitable for a narrow hallway or as a night table. It offers good storage.
Identifying wood used in Chinese furniture is a daunting task since China did not go through an ice age and many species of trees offer good materials. The provenance is Zhejiang or Jiangsu Province in Southeast China where the local literati enjoyed the tradition of Ming furniture. Despite its size, it does have a bit of weight.

While we appreciate this piece as an antique cabinet to be treasured, it was not treated as such at some point while in use in China. less
