Each chair … Read more An exceptional pair of 18th century French Louis XV Provincial caned fauteuil armchairs, exquisitely hand-carved and richly detailed. Each chair features floral tapestry upholstered seat cushions and arms over original caned seats and backs, all in very fine condition.

The carved frames display elegant Rococo motifs—C-scrolls, acanthus leaves, rocaille shells, and vine flourishes—typical of Louis XV design. The sinuous serpentine crest rails and front rails are stippled and scalloped, highlighting the craftsmanship that defined the Golden Age of French Furniture.

The cane work remains tight and intact, and both chairs present beautifully with a warm, time-softened patina. Upholstered cushions are removable, complementing the natural textures of the caning and carved wood.
