They feature elegant, exqusite and dramatic black evening wear for the most chic women of the time. These prints originally appeared in a French haute couture magazine from 1948. They are NOT modern day reproductions. The double image showcases designs by Marcel Rochas (on left) and Pierre Balmain (on right) and the single image is a design by Jacques Faith. The designers are iconic couture fashion names known worldwide. The black evening wear is shown against a crimson red background. Note the painterly quality and the detailing in the dresses, the touches of jewelry, the flow of the fabrics, the accessories, etc. et. etc. They each are illustrated and signed by Eduardo Benito, a Spanish born fashion illustrator who moved to Paris and had a successful career illustrating covers for French Vogue magazine and illustrating designs for leading couturiers in the 1920s, '30s, and 40's.
