Circa Mid 19th Century. I do Believe that it was Used as a Soup - Stew - Food ? Carrier - Possibly in a Institutional Setting ?. The Shape of the Hole on the Top Appears to be Made to Accommodate a Large Serving Ladle ? It is Completely Hand Made - Hand Wrought out of Heavy Gauge Solid Copper. It is Quite Heavy Weighing Over 8 Pounds. It Does Not Have Any Maker or Other Markings but I am Pretty Sure that it is American in Origin. Condition. It Appears to Have Been Used Extensively Over the Many Years so it has an Assortment of Dents - Dings - Bends Etc All of Which Adds to its Character. Structurally it is Strong & Sound. The Interior Also Indicates that it has Been Used Extensively. It is Also Tarnished - Needs a Good Cleaning & Polishing.
It Measures Overall 13 1/4 inches Tall Including the Handle in the Upright Position.
The Bottom - Base is 7 inches Tall x 13 inches Long x 11 3/4 inches Wide.
