Set of 7 vintage Italian Majolica Della Robbia lidded fruit or soup bowls. The bowls and plates are marked “Made in Italy” and “243” or “245.” The set is earthenware in yellow with a multicolor band of fruit around the edge of each plate and bowl. The bowls have decorated handles and lids with lemon or orange knobs.
Dimensions are:
Plates 6.75” diameter
Bowls 4” inside diameter and 5.5” from handle to handle
Lids fit the inside diameter of each bowl.
The condition is excellent with no noticeable scratches or cracks. There are some slight imperfections in the glaze which is usual in vintage highly decorated ceramics.
Use this set for breakfasts of porridge or fruit salad, lunch of soup, dinner of chili or stew and fruit and custard deserts. I would serve ambrosia in these at Christmas dinner.
