Delicately double tapered and banded legs, terminating in precise ballerina points, support this lovely late 18th century mahogany sewing stand … Read more Delicately double tapered and banded legs, terminating in precise ballerina points, support this lovely late 18th century mahogany sewing stand in striking original finish and tie it to the North of Boston region. Below the molded edged top, a single quarter sectioned drawer with original matching knobs sits over a delicate frame meant to hold a pull out fabric bag. While some tacks endure in the frame, the bag is long gone. Both sections also sport their original inlaid escutcheons. The interior of the drawer has been labeled by Bernard and S. Dean Levy, now Levy Galleries, as they appraised and sold this piece in 1988. That appraisal along with a photo of this table from that year are included. See less
