*American Brilliant cut glass flourished from 1876 to World War I, reaching peak production around the Gilded Age (1885-1910), and is characterized by deep, precise, hand-cut patterns in high-lead crystal that created dazzling light refraction.
The craft was showcased at the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition, establishing American cut glass as the finest in the world and becoming a symbol of wealth and status, before declining due to the high-lead content's use in the war and the rise of more affordable alternatives.
