This beautiful painting is Chinese gouache and ink in Chinese folk style on silk that is possibly Vietnamese. The depictions of a few of the figures and architectural structures appear to point to the Hanoi province,. according to our appraiser.
There are 59 figures engaged in some stage of work on the landscape. Various figures, bulls, and temples are in a grid-like orientation. The piece is marked "ASFI." It is from the early to mid 20th century. It is from a recent auction of Asian artworks and lighting.
