Outstanding rare large spherical hand-thrown studio ceramic ginger jar or vase by legendary potter Gary McCloy.
The finish is a high gloss metallic glaze with crackle effect to the lower portion, lite black swirl brush strokes under a spatter-stipple effect in gold, bronze, copper glaze.

Gary McCloy, an established West Coast artist, formerly taught ceramics before moving to Los Angeles, where he achieved significant commercial success and later started working with prolific Southern California, Palm Springs based designer Steve Chase during the 1970s and '80s. He is known for creating large hand-thrown ceramic vases and other decorative objects.
