A beautiful Arts & Crafts period umbrella or stick stand by Shapland & Petter of Barnstaple, England, circa 1900.
Crafted in solid quarter-sawn oak, this piece features a richly patinated repoussé copper panel with stylized tulip motifs — a hallmark of Shapland & Petter’s distinctive blend of English craftsmanship and Art Nouveau influence. The panel’s organic design hints at early Art Deco geometry, making this a transitional and collectible example of the firm’s work.
Includes the original blackened steel drip tray and impressed model numbers (R1137 and 116) on the reverse, consistent with documented Shapland & Petter production.

Condition: Excellent antique condition with age-appropriate wear. One top right finial is missing. The stand is sturdy, clean, and displays beautifully.
