The left hatchet is an early 20th-century carpenter’s or shingling hatchet featuring a nail notch and flat hammer end, once used for precise carpentry and roofing work. The center example, a broad or hewing hatchet dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, has a wide offset blade for shaping logs and beams in traditional timber framing. Its handmade replacement handle adds authentic, timeworn character. The right hatchet, a mid-century sportsman’s or camp model from the 1940s–1950s, features a compact head and curved handle with reinforced grip, typical of outdoor tools sold through hardware stores and outfitters of the era.
