This small painting has a note across the bottom stating that it is a Landseer. The reasons that many believe it is authentic are as follows: 1. He often painted realistic terriers in his youth. 2. His early works often focused on the anatomy and expression and did not humanize his dog subjects. Lastly, watercolor wash with graphite were widely used by him during field studies. However, it is not signed and many did copy his work. It is in very good condition. See less
