It is made from recycled glass with 24 k gold fused to the concave edge making each piece a work of art. Each plate is individually set into the kiln where very high temperature creates a unique, rippled, almost watery pattern to the glass. The result is a smart, eclectic and attractive. These 7" plates are beautiful and versatile. They can be used for appetizers or desserts. The company states they are dish washer safe and chip-resistant. I am an interior designer and a bachelor client, who loved home decor, gave them to me as a gift. Since I did not use them, they are just like new! The photos do not do them justice. The gold rim is difficult to photograph because reflections appears to be dark spots on the rim. But I can assure you, there is no damage on the gold rims, no scrap marks on the bottom or chips at the edges. Annieglass will make a tasteful, upbeat addition to you dinning table. See less
